Glen Powell & Adria Arjona in Linklater's 'Hit Man' Full Official Trailer

Hit Man Trailer

"My name is Gary Johnson, and my simple question for you is: who is your hit man?" Netflix has unveiled the main official trailer Hit Man, the hugely loved new "hitman" comedy from Texas filmmaker Richard Linklater. This first premiered at the 2023 Venice Film Festival last year, with a rapturous premiere where audiences went nuts for (read my full review). It also went on to play at TIFF, NYFF, London and Sundance. From the Oscar-nominated writer / director Richard Linklater, starring the great Glen Powell alongside Adria Arjona, comes Hit Man. Inspired by an unbelievable true story, a "hit man" meets his match with a client who steals his heart and ignites a powder keg of deception, delight, and mixed-up identities. Co-written by Linklater & Powell and inspired by a true story, it's a cleverly existential comedy about identity. Hit Man arrives on Netflix in June, hopefully with a proper theatrical debut first before it's streaming. The cast includes Austin Amelio, Retta, Sanjay Rao, and Evan Holtzman. Everyone loves this film! You will, too! Not the best trailer - but take our word for it and see this when it's out (in theaters!!) this summer.

Another Spooky Teaser for 'Longlegs' Horror - Starring Maika Monroe

Longlegs Teaser Trailer

"So close the crimson and clover, all gone now to the edge, where the black begins the long forked tongue hisses." What does it all mean?! Another freaky teaser!! Neon has revealed one more creepy teaser trailer for Longlegs, set to open in theaters nationwide starting this July. We've featured the other cryptic teasers before as well as the incredible first official trailer for this film a few months ago. FBI Agent Lee Harker is assigned to an unsolved serial killer case that takes unexpected turns, revealing eerie evidence of the occult. Harker discovers a personal connection to the killer and must stop him before he strikes again. Longlegs is the latest film from director Oz Perkins (of The Blackcoat's Daughter, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, Gretel & Hansel). The horror film stars Maika Monroe as Lee Harker, Nicolas Cage, Alicia Witt, Blair Underwood, and Dakota Daulby. There's not much footage to see in here, but the text and the few shots they do include will make your skin crawl. I cannot wait for this - it's going to be scary as hell.

Available Now - Incredible 'A Thousand Suns' Sci-Fi Anthology Series

A Thousand Suns Web Series

"Don't be afraid. I'm not here to take you… You can help me. And I can help you." It's time to discover new worlds. Time to explore unique galaxies and strange planets. A Thousand Suns is the latest creation from a filmmaker known as "Macgregor", produced by a company called Blackmilk Studio. The sci-fi anthology series set in the distant future has launched online - all six episodes (to start) are available on YouTube for free. Macgregor says his team of filmmakers, including Ruairi Robinson & Tyson Wade Johnston, worked to craft "films that serve as a gateway to our hopes, dreams… and nightmares." We posted a trailer last week, and now the first round of films are out. This is similar to Neill Blomkamp's Oats Studios or the Love Death + Robots series on Netflix, featuring fresh ideas brought vividly to life in films that are under 10 minutes. So far I'm astonished by how good all six of these look. Incredible work! Their website even has a total of 22 episodes listed but the rest aren't available yet - only listed as coming soon. "It’s the future. How far? Far enough that our modern society is little more than a ghost haunting humanity. Far enough that we’ve spread far beyond Earth, off onto many worlds." As a big sci-fi geek, THIS is what I love to see. Watch them below.

Bonkers Full Trailer for Takashi Miike's 'Lumberjack the Monster' Film

Lumberjack the Monster Trailer

"If he's trying to murder me, I'll kill him first." Another official trailer is available to watch for this kooky and crazy Japanese horror film called Lumberjack the Monster, based on the novel of the same name. A suspenseful thriller directed by Takashi Miike and starring Kazuya Kamenashi. The brutal film is about a series of bizarre murders by someone wearing a strange monster mask found in the picture book 'Monster Woodcutter' who then steals their brains. Akira heads out to get revenge on this Lumberjack killer. The plot follows this Patrick Bateman-like psychopath lawyer (who also kills) going up against this vicious masked murderer - pitting a psychopath against a serial killer in a totally bonkers new Takashi Miike creation. Only someone like Miike could make something so absurd! Lumberjack the Monster stars Kazuya Kamenashi as Akira Ninomiya, Nanao, Riho Yoshioka, Shota Sometani, and Shido Nakamura. The film already opened in Japan last December, and it will premiere at a Japan Society event in NYC this May - but is still waiting for a US release eventually. Hopefully sooner than later. Watch: Clever Animated Short 'Regular Rabbit' Created by Eoin Duffy

Regular Rabbit Short Film

"So what is real anymore? What is truth? Is this an innocent rabbit?" Or is he just… a regular rabbit? This delightfully clever short film is much more intellectual and profound than it may seem at first glance. It's about more then just a cute bunny. Regular Rabbit is an animated short film made by an Irish animation filmmaker named Eoin Duffy. After playing at festivals for the last few years, it's finally out for everyone to watch. A banished rabbit runs from his home. Failing to evade an unstoppable tide of lies, the rabbit falls into the deepest darkest recesses of society. Until one day, it appears rumors may finally turn to reality for this once regular rabbit. Featuring extraordinary narration by Rory McCann. This is the concept: "Regular Rabbit challenges our readiness to believe absurd misinformation by deliberately separating visuals from narrative. One does not match the other. It prompts us to question our own gullibility in the face of even the most outrageous claims." Yes, this is striking and emotional and will definitely make you think. View below.

Scary Trailer for 'Trim Season' North Cali Marijuana Farm Horror Film

Trim Season Traler

"You'll never understand. If she wants to, Mona can control the whole mountain." Paper Street Pics has revealed the trailer for Trim Season, a horror thriller film set at a marijuana farm in Northern California. This trailer is dropping in time for 4/20 this wekend, but the film won't actually release until June in the summer. "The Ultimate Nightmare Blunt Rotation." A group of young people go to a remote marijuana farm where they hope to make quick cash during "trim season" - trimming marijuana at the end of the growing season. But they discover the location's dark secrets and now must try to escape the mountain on which they are trapped. It becomes a race against time for Emma and her friends to escape the dense woods with their lives. From the same director as Vide Noir, Trim Season stars Bethlehem Million as Emma, Jane Badler, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Alex Essoe, Ryan Donowho, Cory Hart, & Ally Ioannides. Aside from the freaky eco-horror concept, I really dig the poster they made for this (seen below). This looks terrifying! Watch out.

Petaluma Lycanthrope Comedy Film 'Werewolf Serenade' Official Trailer

Werewolf Serenade Trailer

"If you do have it, don't spread it." The first full trailer has debuted for an indie comedy called Werewolf Serenade, filmed in & around the city of Petaluma, California (same place as American Graffiti or Peggy Sue Got Married). The film is premiering in a few weeks at AVFest, and out later this year. It's a campy, low-budget indie dramedy about a middle-aged couple navigating the humorous challenges of transforming into a werewolf. When the burnt-out college professor Peter MacTire accidentally becomes a werewolf after his colleague turns up dead, he and his concert cellist wife Julia embrace the change to thwart an evil occultist plot, save the college, and their marriage. Hopefully. Starring writer / director Daedalus Howell as Peter, with Emily Keyishian, Mark P. Robinson, Alia Beeton, Christopher Sawyer, Rapheal Gavin, and Natalie Crafts. Yet another super low budget werewolf film, lots of them these days. Not exactly expecting this to win any prizes, but it does look like some small town kooky fun. Especially if you're into werewolves.

Official Trailer for 'In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon' Doc

In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon Trailer

"I want to go and follow the music, but you never know what you're going to find along the way." Another new official trailer has debuted for the documentary film titled In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon, the latest from Alex Gibney following his docs on The Forever Prisoner, and Boris Becker. This first premiered at the 2023 Toronto & London Film Festivals last fall, and is already streaming on MGM+ in the US (though we missed this when it first dropped). The film follows Paul Simon inside the studio making his new album Seven Psalms while looking back on his six-decade career with countless musical peaks from Sounds of Silence to Graceland. Gibney's In Restless Dreams is supposedly the definitive musical biography of Paul Simon, one of the greatest songwriters (and performers as well) in the history of rock 'n roll. It's yet another one of these music docs that is a mix between promoting his new album he's been working on, and a quick look back at his entire career as a musician. He's got plenty of good stories to tell about music. Enjoy.

Cheerleader Squad Thriller 'Backspot' Trailer Feat. Evan Rachel Wood

Backspot Trailer

"This world is not kind to weak people." XYZ Films has revealed the trailer for a Canadian cheerleading film called Backspot, which plays more a serious drama or intense thriller than a sports comedy or satire. This is similar to that rowing film The Novice a few years ago. This premiered at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival last year and hits US theaters in May. Devery Jacobs (from "Reservation Dogs") stars as Riley, who is given the chance to cheer with the all-star squad, Thunderhawks. With a competition looming, Riley must navigate her crippling anxiety, her relationship with her girlfriend, and also her desperate need for approval from her new coach. One positive review states: “You may think you know your sports movie tropes, but you’ve never seen them used quite this way — that is, within a queer cheerleading drama firmly focused on complex female characters — and Waterson’s Backspot delights in skewing such expectations." Dang, okay! This also stars Evan Rachel Wood as coach, Shannyn Sossamon, Kudakwashe Rutendo, Thomas Antony Olajide, and Wendy Crewson. It's also executive produced by Elliott Page. Check it out below.

Strange Trailer for Horror 'The Coffee Table' About Demonic Furniture

The Coffee Table Trailer

"Enjoy if you dare…" What crazy idea will they come up with next for a horror movie?! Try this on for size, why don't ya. Watch out for deadly tables! The Coffee Table is a Spanish horror film about, uh, some kind of haunted, killer furniture. Jesus and Maria are a couple going through a difficult time in their relationship. Nevertheless, they have just become parents and are also struggling with the pressures of a newborn baby. To shape their new life, they decide to buy a new coffee table. A decision that will change their existence and their lives forever. This indie horror was entirely shot over the course of 10 days. Starring David Pareja and Estefanía de los Santos, with Josep Maria Riera, Claudia Riera, and Eduardo Antuña. It's described as "an unsettling descent into absolute madness and misery," and also "uproariously funny until it is not at all." Well, this definitely sounds nuts! And looks much more weird and freaky than it does comedic.

Watch: 'Creating Things' Short Doc Film Examining a Father's Legacy

Creating Things Short Doc

"Things that I create will hopefully live beyond my life." What kind of legacy will you leave? Will there be anyone to celebrate that legacy, to make sure it leaves a last impression? This wonderful, wholesome short film is a exercise in extending that legacy. Creating Things is a 10-minute short doc made by the brothers Bryan Simpson and Taylor Simpson, telling the story of their dad Roger Simpson - a beautiful artist with a creative mind. "Our friend Peter Lyngso revealed to us that he had filmed an interview with our Dad after his cancer diagnosis a couple years earlier. Upon watching the interview we learned new things about our Dad. It also reaffirmed things about him, most important of which was his passion for creating. This became an excuse to discover and rediscover our Dad's art, photos, and other mementos to create this film. The process has been a cathartic labor of love and the final piece is not only a visual eulogy to our Dad, but a visual ode to creating." No more intro necessary - press play below and get ready for an emotional journey.

A Record Store in NJ Inspires a Mid-Life Crisis in 'Flipside' Doc Trailer

Flipside Doc Trailer

"It's beautiful and inspiring." Oscilloscope Labs has revealed an official trailer for a documentary film titled Flipside, which first premiered last year at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival. It's the latest creation from doc filmmaker Chris Wilcha, who worked for "This American Life" and also made a few docs, including Knock Knock It's Tig Notaro in 2015 and his breakout The Target Shoots First. Flipside is his comical attempt to save a New Jersey record store and confront a mid-life crisis. TIFF adds: "In the process of looking back, he gets inspired to revisit the half-finished documentaries that exist only on his hard drives. He pulls up old interviews that no one has seen with creative people who faced their own crossroads, including radio host Ira Glass, writer Starlee Kine, jazz photographer Herman Leonard, and television writer David Milch. The passage of time brings a deeper poignancy to their testimonies… His quest may be personal, but many will see themselves in it." Seems like another super nerdy meta filmmaker film! Which I'm always curious about.

Nick Stahl Stars in a Twisted Chef Thriller 'What You Wish For' Trailer

What You Wish For Trailer

"A bad dish from you and your life will end." Magnolia Pictures has revealed the official trailer for What You Wish For, an indie thriller from filmmaker Nicholas Tomnay, a follow-up to his first film The Perfect Host. This new one premiered at many genre fests: Fantasia, Fantastic Fest, FrightFest, A Night of Horror, Grimmfest, Celluloid Screams, and Screamfest previously before its upcoming release in theaters this May during the start of the summer. A down-on-his-luck chef with gambling problems flees to a Latin American villa, where he assumes the identity of another skilled chef. "A Hitchcockian, edge-of-your-seat descent into escalating moral compromise with generous servings of dark humour, shock, and surprise." The title is an obvious riff on the "be careful what you wish for" idiom, as the full synopsis hints that he "soon discovers just what Jack's been doing to maintain the lifestyle he so desperately craved." Uh oh. Starring Nick Stahl as Ryan, with Tamsin Topolski, Randy Vasquez, Penelope Mitchell, Juan Carlos Messier, Ariel Sierra, & Brian Groh. Yeah this looks crazy and unsettling. I dig that final line: "Make the dessert, Jack."

Must Watch Trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's 'Trap' with Josh Hartnett

Shyamalan's Trap Movie Trailer

"This whole concert is a trap. They're watching all the exits." Get ready for a whole new twist! Warner Bros has revealed an official trailer for the next new M. Night Shyamalan movie titled Trap, arriving in theaters in August at the end of the summer. This was teased at CinemaCon last week, and we finally all get a look at the trailer. Josh Hartnett stars as a father who takes his daughter to a pop star concert (inspired by Taylor Swift or Lady Gaga). However, while there they discover that the concert is all a setup to catch a serial killer. But who is the killer? This first big twist is revealed IN the trailer, so it's not really a spoiler. I also have a feeling Shyamalan has worked in a few other big twists that we don't know about yet. The cast also includes Ariel Donoghue, Saleka Shyamalan performing as Lady Raven, Hayley Mills, and Allison Pill. With cinematography by Sayombhu Mukdeeprom (of Call Me by Your Name) and a score by Herdĭs Stefănsdŏttir. Trap is a nice compliment to M. Night's daughter's first film The Watchers also out in theaters this summer.

Banel & Adama Trailer

"Back when we were kings, masters of ourselves, masters of the world, free. Today, who are we?" Kino Lorber has revealed an official US trailer for Banel & Adama, a visually magical African love story movie from French filmmaker Ramata-Toulaye Sy. This premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival in the Main Competition, and went on to play at the Toronto, London, Chicago, and Denver Film Festivals in 2023. It's now set for a US release starting in June this summer. Kino Lorber is pleased to present Banel & Adama, a haunting, visually stunning West African love story and the directorial debut of Ramata-Toulaye Sy. A young couple in Senegal must contend with the disapproval of their remote village. This stars Khady Mane as Banel and Mamadou Diallo as Adama. It received mostly positive reviews out of last year's film festivals, praising both the gorgeous cinematography and passionate performances from the two leads, which we get a glimpse of in this trailer. Glad it will be getting a proper art house theatrical run in the US soon. Take a look.
