How much money an OnlyFans star earns per month with 50K followers, and how she built her income using livestreams and a golf show

  • Steph Mi is an OnlyFans creator who has been on the platform since 2018.
  • In January, she launched an OFTV show, "Golf With Mi."
  • Here are some other the ways she has built her account to earning over $73,000 in a month.

To get the attention of OnlyFans executives and land an OFTV show, it can help to do something big.

Take OnlyFans creator Steph Mi as an example: In November, she launched an airplane banner over a Phillies baseball game with the her OnlyFans link, "ONLYFANS.COM/STEPHMI." The gambit worked. An OnlyFans exec emailed her a few weeks later to discuss giving her a show.

OFTV is the company's free and "safe for work" streaming platform, which lets creators link back to their OnlyFans accounts and potentially drive new subscriptions.

Mi has been testing new ways to promote her OnlyFans since she joined in 2018 as an early adopter of the subscription platform. Back then, she was doing fitness content, but never saw it take off. That changed in 2020 when OnlyFans entered the zeitgeist during the start of the pandemic, and she — like many other creators — started seeing subscribers and dollars roll in.

Mi said she began to see real success with the platform a year and a half ago. This March, she had around 50,000 subscribers and made $73,000 in the month after OnlyFans took its 20% cut. Insider confirmed the amount with a screenshot of Mi's monthly earning statement.

Mi's modeling career predates OnlyFans, and some of her credits include posing for SI Swimsuit and movie appearances like "Foxcatcher" starring Channing Tatum. Through OnlyFans, Mi has built a loyal following that she calls the ArMi, who she often connects with using the OnlyFans livestreaming feature.

"They like to be able to connect with me in the moment," she said. "And you know, if I'm having a bad day, I can say I'm having a bad day, and they can say, 'Oh, I had a bad day too.'"

Mi connects with subscribers by livestreaming on OnlyFans

Mi describes her OnlyFans work as being like a life coach and a therapist, especially when she goes live, does one-on-one chats, or customizable videos. One of the ways she'll keep the conversations relatable is she'll ask fans in the one-on-one sessions to buy her a drink so they can chat as if they're really hanging out together in real life.

Typically, Mi likes to stay on her livestreams for two hours max, and she likes to do a public livestream initially, and then switch to a private stream. Her usual starting time is 11 p.m.

"Sometimes I'll go live for an hour and it'll just be like, I would say a PG-13 kind of livestream, and then after the hour goes, they can join my Super VIP and experience a little bit more in there another hour," Mi said. Mi's rep told Insider that unlike many OnlyFans creators, Mi does not include nudity or pornography in her content.

The Super VIP experience is the highest tier price on Mi's OnlyFans, and costs around $1,500 to $2,500 per month, though she adjusts her prices each month depending on her subscriber growth. Fans in this tier receive daily, exclusive content, and get more of a "girlfriend experience," according to Mi's rep. This tier is Mi's top OnlyFans income stream. A regular subscription to her page is free, and the VIP tier is $150 per month.

When it comes to promoting herself on other accounts, she tries to post on TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat almost every day. She'll focus a little more on whatever platform she's doing well on at the moment, but isn't fully committed to any of them.

OFTV is helping her build out her platform further

OFTV is Mi's latest venture in building her platform. She launched her show "Golf With Mi" in January. In it, she travels around the country to play golf with a featured guest, from professional golfers to other creator friends of hers. She said her Korean heritage partly inspired the concept for the show because golf is a big part of the culture.

"My mother would always call me — she lives in Korea — and talk about her golf day, and I just felt like there was a disconnect," she said.

"I just felt like I couldn't relate to her in that conversation," Mi said, adding that she was planning to pick up golf anyways and film her progress. "But, I've turned it into a show."

Her rep told Insider that Mi had gained more than 15,000 subscribers since starting the series. Mi said that she'd had new people coming to her OnlyFans or other social-media platforms who specifically made comments about "Golf With Mi."

She said she felt that though some people belittle her profession because of a stigma around OnlyFans, she feels more accomplished now because she is able to work for herself, and makes more money than she ever did as a traditional model.

"I was on sets with A-list celebrities and I worked for like two weeks making minimum wage, and I'm in a bikini being a ring girl, and literally five seconds of that shot is being aired for making pennies versus what I can make now, which is potentially millions," Mi said.
