One of the features of the iPhone 13 is the ability to take macro photos. However, it is a little bit annoying to use as macro mode is automatically enabled when it detects an object close up, which sometimes isn’t what the user intended. Apple later introduced a toggle in the settings where users could manually disable macro mode.

However, this isn’t ideal because what if the user wanted to use it again later? Thankfully, it seems that finally in iOS 15.2 Apple gets it right. According to a tweet by @DylanMcD8, it appears that in the latest beta of iOS 15.2, Apple adds a macro toggle within the Camera app itself.

How it works, as you can see in the video above, is that when it detects a very close up image, a small icon with a flower turns yellow to indicate it is in macro mode. However, if that wasn’t the user’s intention, they can simply tap on the icon to disable it, and tap back on it again to turn it back on.

It’s quick and easy to use and we don’t know why this wasn’t part of the design in the first place, but we suppose better late than never. iOS 15.2 is still in beta and this feature is only for the iPhone 13 which supports macro, so if you own an iPhone 13, this could be an update to look forward to.
